This custom residence was designed for a couple with one child in a community with very stringent architectural controls, including height restriction and lot coverage. Designing in 3-D allowed the architect to view the massing and forms of the building early in the process. For the Clients, the three-dimensional design enabled them to "walk-through" the home and make decisions, along with the architect, about big things such as room sizes and ceiling heights and smaller design issues such as doorway shapes, ceiling treatments, niches, etc. Decisions were made quicker and there were fewer changes because the Clients could see their home three dimensionally, as it would look when it was built.
