VILLEBOIS V-ZONE

The Village (V) Zone is a zoning district that was added to the Wilsonville, Oregon Planning and Land Development Code to direct the development within the master-planned community of Villebois.  The goal was to minimize the need to expand the Portland Urban Growth Boundary and avoid the negative impacts of urban sprawl.  Villebois was planned as a cohesive community based on sustainable economic, social, and environmental principles, that is pedestrian and transit friendly, that minimizes the negative impacts of traffic and that optimizes overall livability.  It is to be a mixed-use community with a variety of housing types and densities.

The code was written specifically for the community of Villebois to ensure a range of intensive land uses and the most efficient use of land.  The Design Principles and Design Standards in the Village Zone establish the fundamental qualities that should be present in the development of Villebois.  Implementing tools include the requirement of an Architectural Pattern Book prepared by the Master Developer for each area of development.
